The Hickman County Public Library has a large local history and genealogy collection, including many clippings and other historical documents.
Unfortunately, the Hickman County courthouse burned in 1864, so all official records except deeds are scarce or nonexistent.
The library also maintains a collection of microfilm newspapers, official records and a few reels of Dickson County, the parent county.
The Elrod Collection was donated by the family of Dr. Parker Elrod, who spent many years researching his family and collecting extensive information on the Elrods.
Individual Family Histories in the Collection.
The Hickman County Public Library has material or books on the
following family names. In some cases, the material consists of only a
page or two of information, or a single newspaper clipping. For names
with an astrick, a published book or booklet is available.
